This is the Spiral Table Runner after finishing.

I just finished making this tote bag. It used a charm pack .
I was a lot of fun.

My son from Oregon is here for a week. I got a new computer, keyboard and mouse. And he hook the whole thing up. It has vista, so, some things are a bit different, like finding my pictures.

Some pictures...

This is the spiral table runner that I just finished sewing the top. Now need to get a yard of fabric for the backing and then finish it. I thought the pattern was a little difficult to understand, on how to use the ruler, but after reading about 10 times, I finally got it.

At the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery, where I volunteer, they have a different exhibition for each of the summer months, June - September. The theme for the August is "Black and White". This is my entry. It is a woven piece. The black and white fabric has timepieces on it, so I titled it Fractured Time. The summer exhibitions are just for fun and the winners are chosen by peoples choice.

TaDa!!! This is my 1st quilt. Margaret Miller of the Dixie Quilt Guild taught a class on Kalideoscope quilts. It was a fun class. I was just going to make blocks and she coaxed me into making this. Mine is small, but I learned the process of making a quilt. I thought I would hate doing the binding, but it wasn't bad at all. Can't wait to show it to her at the Sept. meeting.

I have been trying...

to upload pictures. Blogger won't let me right now.

Had a great time at the Long Beach Quilt show. Bought some really neat tools and lots of fabric. Mostly batiks. I did buy a very pretty quilt kit. It is called Butterfly Garden and the colors are greens, purples and black. Big change from the batiks.

Well, I will try to post pictures later.

We are leaving for Long Beach Friday. I am going to the quilt show Saturday. I am more prepared for it this year. Last year was my 1st time and I was sooo overwhelmed, I was a wreck. Kept getting lost in the vendor area. Didn't think to eat till they had ran out of food, ETC.

Stop by www.simplythisthatandtheother.blogspot.com They are having a fabulous giveway.

This is my autumn bargello. I still have to sew 3/4 inch pieces in between, but I love the colors.
This one is a lot of work.

Nancy at www.withthreadinhand.blogspot.com had a give a way for her birthday. Look what I won. It is the cutest little bag. Has a zippered pocket on the front. I love it.

Just finished

Today is my husband's birthday. We went out for a real nice lunch. He just recently got new
Mizuno irons. So he couldn't think of anything he wanted. At our age, it's not a big deal anymore. Besides, it's 105 here today. No need to be running all over the place.

I got all the borders sewn on the kaleidoscope quilt. (Previous post.) So I took it to Quilted Works to have in quilted. Can't wait to see it, when done. Then I have till September to get the binding on. I promised Margaret that I would bring it to the Sept. meeting in St. George. Margaret was the fabulous teacher.

Dang, I am not getting this uploading pictures, where I want them.
The fat qtrs. are the colors I have chose, for lesson #3. If they get approved. That is
the hardest part.

The other picture is what I just finished for lesson #2. I love these colors.

New Class

I have wanted to take Ruth Blanchet's , Bargello Seasons classes for a long time. So when I saw them at Quilt University, I signed up. This is my 1st one. There are 4 different classes, each with a different colorway and different technique. This was the spring one. You don't have to use the seasons colors if you don't want to. I am not sure if I will finish this as a quilt or use it as part of a vest or jacket. But I really enjoyed making it. We start the 2nd one this friday.

Here in the Nevada desert, we had been having a weird May and 1st part of june. Never broke a hundred. Was mostly middle ninety's . Nice and pleasant. But now the hundred plus is creeping in. So will be good time to stay in and sew.

2 classes

The Dixie Quilt Guild had aworkshop on making a Kalideoscope quilt. I made 9 blocks
and I am going to make a table cover. I want to do the process all the way through. "Make a quilt".
This is what I have so far. On the left is what the borders will be. The teacher was great.

I made this book cover in an free Online class at www.academyofquilting.com
Fun to do. Great instructions.

There is a fabulous give a way at www.yellowbirdart.blogspot.com.
Also check out their website www.YellowBirdArt.com.

Took a class from Dianne Hire on Saturday. Fabulous class and teacher. Will post pictures soon.

This blue green piece was supposed to be in the previous post. I still have problems loading things.

This is the June block for the Dixie Quilt Guild.

We had to do a square in a square. Last block of this year for them.

I have had fun doing these blocks. Learned a lot.

What I have been up to...

I had fun making this bowl. Fabric wrapped around closeline, then zig zagged in to bowl shape.

For the challenge this month, we were given a brown paper lunch sack. We could do anything we wanted to the bag. I painted it, added some webbing (it's the dark piece in the middle). cut out the vase and the three little pieces at the top. Added a piece of shrink art I had made on top of the 3 little pieces. Did some hand stitching on the white part. Love challenges.

Below are the 2 pieces I made at the demo given by Ann Pugh. Weaving 2 fabrics sorta free style cut. Little tricky but fun.

Catching up

The tall birdhouse is one of my latest pottery pieces that I made. And the basket is one from the class I taught. Also made the pottery piece on the front of the basket.

The desert picture is a class I took at a Desert Quilters Guild mini retreat, in Henderson, Nevada. I really enjoyed the class and the teacher was great.

The basket block is for the challenge at this saturday's meeting at the Dixie Quilt Guild in St. George, Utah.

New block

This is the block for February for the Dixie Quilt Guild. The amount of times I stitched and un-stitched while making this block, I could have had 2 blocks sewn. But I did learn from my errors.

I did win for best interpretation.

Next month is pinwheels. Still searching for a block pattern I want to do.

Busy, Busy

The Dixie Quild Guild is having a quilt show in April. I am so excited. You should see all the fabulous quilts these ladies make. They had a fabric challenge, where you use the issued fabric, which is the dark print and make a quilt (not there yet) or other item. This is what I made. I found the pattern on http://www.ayumills.blogspot.com/. Each month at the meetings they have show and tell, where the ladies show what they have finished. I am in awe! I am so glad to be in this group. They are such a friendly group.

This is a 5" quiltie that I made for Meg, in Unlimited Textiles group. I use some of the pieces

from the larger block I had made earlier. I was a fun challenge.

Updating

Agnes, one of my basketry students, brought me these flowers on the last class. Aren't
they beautiful. They have lasted for 2 weeks. Wow, I have never gotten flowers from a student before. That was so nice of her.

I took a class to make this table runner. Learned alot. Still have to do some stitching
on the top and then add the buttons on the points. I just used some fabric that I had,
didn't want to use my batiks, in case I messed up. Now I would like to do one using batiks.

This was the latest block for the Dixie Quilt Guild. I won for most creative. I did machine applique on the circles. The theme was curves and circles. Next month the theme is flowers.
I am going to turn this one into a art quilt, adding beads and some embellishments.

Basket class

Here are the students in the class.
They all did really well. I love it when
they finish their basket and are quite pleased with themselves. Two gals were done and had to leave so I took the picture early. But the others finished their baskets. The lady 2nd from the right, Joann, is a snowbird and she is a basketweaver and teacher. She likes to come just for the weaving company.

Happy New Year. These are some of the mountains
that surround where we live and that is how far the snow comes down.
Which is just fine with me. It is gone now and it was 64 degrees today. Yeah!! Had a free play day at the pottery studio, so I went and had a good time. Made 4 different items. Three bowls and one creative thing. Will post picture when they have been glazed.

This is my block to take to the January meeting. It is paper foundation technique. It was a little more work though. Next month is curves and circles. Yikes!
